Get financial help in Williamson County from a number of agencies. There may be grant money to help with rent or electric bills and more. The assistance may be provided by a local charity, social service office, government assistance program or church. Other support in the community ranges from free food boxes to medical care, credit counseling, school supplies for students, and homeless prevention services among other programs. The Caring Place of Georgetown Texas ((512) 869-4735) offers numerous assistance programs.

  • Provides the low income with one-time financial assistance with emergency eye exams and eyeglasses, prescription drugs, medical supplies, emergency dental work, and other one time aid.

  • The organization may be able to offer vouchers for new or gently used clothing and household goods to be used at Fabulous Finds, which is the on site Caring Place thrift store.
  • In addition to above, the non-profit may be able to provides additional financial assistance for bills and expenses on a case-by-case basis to help low income people reach self-sufficiency. Assistance is based on a client's special needs or crisis. Examples may include:
    • Employment expense assistance for tools, certification, uniforms, licenses, and work equipment.
    • Offers educational fee assistance and cash payments for GED tests, college textbooks, and continuing education.

There are community action agencies that cover Williamson County and central Texas. As resources allow, the non-profit provides some referrals and support to struggling families, incidividuals, and immigrants Williamson County. The non-profit can direct qualified low income clients to utility bill help and conservation from Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program / CEAP. A low cost, prescription assistance program is available as well as other medical care referrals.

Referrals and offered too for many government benefits, such as SNAP food stamps. Other key services include the General Educational Development Certificate as well as ESL classes. Williamson-Burnet County Opportunities - This is the Williamson County Texas Community Action Agency. The non-profit agency provides limited emergency financial assistance and cash grants to help with paying electric, utility and gas bills. Rent assistance is also available for qualified residents with low income.

In addition, meet with a counselor to get help with completing forms for government assistance programs and offers referrals to community services. Get free food from Capital Area Food Bank. This organization coordinates the weekly distribution of free food, donated fruits, vegetables, baked goods, and other items at various pantries, feeding sites and food banks Williamson County. Assistance from churches is available in the county to struggling families, regardless of their religion. One organization (that works with churches) to turn to for help with bills, rent, and other expenses is the Round Rock Area Serving Center. People in need of help paying bills and other expenses can turn to Catholic Charities for assistance. This organizations helps people of all religions.

  • Food aid - Emergency food aid is made available, free of charge, to anyone in need of a free meal. Individuals can receive access to a pantry services once every 14 days for up to 12 visits each and every year.
     
  • Financial Assistance - Cash grants and financial assistance are available to people who need help. The grants can help with expenses that families may incur including rent, utility and air conditioning bills, and money for security and utility deposits.   • Housing Assistance - Receive access to a variety of resources that can hep someone remain in their home or apartment. Catholic Charities provides funds for rent assistance, case management, outreach, housing search and placement, eviction prevention services, legal services and even credit repair. They are all services available to assist program participants with housing stability and to help people stay in their homes.
     
  • Referrals - If for some reason the Williamson Catholic Charities does not have the resources to meet your particular need, they can refer you to other Texas and federal government assistance programs.

Madella Hilliard Neighborhood Center - This non-profit agency provides the low income and needy with limited amounts of emergency financial assistance. Funds can be used to help pay gas, electric, utility bills, and rent. Low income qualifications need to be met. Free clothes, furniture and household items - Low income families and those who are struggling can receive low cost (or maybe even free items) from non-profit clothing closets and charities. The locations will sell gently used goods to the public, such as clothes, work uniforms, school supplies and furniture. Some centers may even offer vouchers to families so that they can buy items of their choice at local Williamson County locations. Salvation Army Taylor and Georgetown - The local Salvation Army centers have limited funding and may be able to provides temporary financial assistance. There may be funds for paying expenses such as rent, utilities electric, water, and gas, prescription drugs, food, and motel vouchers. Other support includes free school supplies and case management.

Williamson County families can also get free Christmas toys for kids or holiday meals, both at Christmas and Thanksgiving. St. Helen's Catholic Church-Society Of St. Vincent De Paul - The church organization provides help with one or more of the following, provided funding exists. St. Patrick Catholic Church - Provides qualified low income with limited, temporary financial assistance for paying for electricity and utilities. St. William Catholic Church-Society Of St. Vincent De Paul - The church organization runs a food pantry. Qualified people can get clothing and furniture vouchers to be used at the local thrift store. Taylor Neighborhood/senior Center - Low income and working poor residents, who meet qualifications, may access limited emergency financial assistance for electric bills, gas, and housing costs such as rent. Emergency housing and rent help - Several churches, charities, and non-profits focus on offering funds to the low income for rent and housing expenses. Government Aid and Social Services - The County provides assistance and benefits for the very low income, unemployed, and others that are at risk, such as the disabled. Water and Sewer bills in Round Rock Texas - There is assistance for this form of utility service, but it is only for residents of Round Rock. Both charities and the city can be able to offer one time, short term financial aid for paying everything from water to sewer bills of struggling, low income families. Free food, groceries and meals from pantries. There are churches, non-profits, and organizations that offer groceries and support to anyone that needs help, as resources allow. Saint Vincent in Taylor operates a thrift store and can provide basic needs. There may be furniture, household items, clothing, and similar goods. The location in on Main Street, and the phone number is 512-352-245.

While direct financial aid will not be offered, the volunteers from St. Vincent may offer referrals. The charity can sometimes help the hungry, unemployed, or tenants facing an eviction. They are a leading non-profit in the Williamson County region, and provide qualified families with everything from emergency loans for paying back rent to cash grants for other bills.

Churches from Taylor also distribute free food or groceries, clothing, and can help place veterans and single parents into low income housing or apartments. A number of other services may be available via referral from Saint Vincent.

Carolyn T. Smith Loaves and Fishes Outreach Ministry may have very limited cash assistance. There may be funds for housing costs, such as a security deposit, mortgage or rent. Caritas - Assistance is available across the region. A kitchen serves free meals, and a food pantry will pass out groceries. Other resources from the charity include refugees assistance, help for veterans, and more. Seniors, single moms, and others can get help.

Free healthcare clinics and low cost medical care

Williamson County and Cities Health District - This facility provides preventive health and medical care services (not sick care) for children and adults who do not have access to private health care. Lone Star Circle of Care - The organization, which can be contacted toll free at 877-800-5722, is a nonprofit, federally qualified and registered community health center that runs clinics throughout Williamson County and Central Texas. The organization’s clinics provide a family and person-centered and behaviorally enhanced healthcare home. They offer a wide range of health care services for the medically under served and uninsured members of the community.

Among other services, the clinic offers adult primary care, comprehensive OB/GYN services, pediatric primary care, senior care, general dentistry, psychiatry and behavioral health, and pharmacy services with very low cost prescription medicines for those who are uninsured.

Samaritan Health Ministries - This health clinic also helps those who need assistance, have no or limited health insurance, and can’t pay for their medical bills. Receive quality urgent and chronic free healthcare services (including dental, medical, medications, mental health and pharmaceutical). The clinic focuses on the uninsured and other low to moderate income individuals who live in the greater Williamson and northwest Travis counties Texas. 512-331-5828.
