Centers focus on people with no money, seniors, students, single moms and the low income. There will be free clothes but also furniture banks for household stuff, such as a bed, computer, fridge or a couch and other items. Or get free back to school supplies or uniforms, job interview attire, diapers and more. The exact type of goods available at each location will change and depend on donations and contributions from people in the community.

Almost all centers in Williamson and Travis County will have some type of basic clothing items. This will include shoes, belts, outerwear, coats for kids or seniors or shirts. Some of the clothing closets will try to focus on meeting specific needs. For example, they may provide uniforms for children to use for school. Or locations may offer suits, dresses, or more professional attire for low-income adults looking for a job or who are going on an interview. Other locations may have free stuff such as baby or maternity clothes or a free car seat for low-income moms.

Austin/Travis County Health And Human Services Department
The government affiliated agency gives free stuff to the low-income in Travis County. There is a a clothing closet, food pantry, and offers case management services, including employment. A great service is the information and referral to non-profits and government aid that is available.

Blankets and some other basic needs may be offered. Residents on TANF can also be given a free gift card or voucher to pay for school supplies for their kids, including clothes the child may wear to school. Veterans and their families can get immunizations (including for school), government grants to pay bills, free clothes, housing, educational or school supplies (or uniforms for work) and more.

A thrift store sells low-cost clothing, including work attire, children's, baby and adult clothing, basic school items, and miscellaneous household items. Free vouchers for some furniture (beds, tables, appliances, etc.) may be offered too. There may also be birthday toys for kids, computers, and other electronics.

Salvation Army Social Services Center
Various emergency assistance and social services are offered. Includes Christmas assistance from Angel Tree, which can include toys and gifts. Free clothing, small kitchen appliances, and more may be offered. A back to school supply drive is also offered and gives free uniforms, backpacks, shoes, Chromeboos and more to students of all ages. ARCH - Austin Resource Center for the Homeless

Free vouchers are provided to homeless people and the poor in Austin TX. They can “shop” for free personal stuff such as underwear, sneakers, jackets, shirts, socks and other items.

SVDP of Austin area
Society of Saint Vincent de Paul has both (1) free emergency stuff and (2) a low-cost thrift store with bargains. People can get everything from clothes to a computer, free used washer or dryer, year round or winter clothes and more. The parishes also help single moms with basic needs, including clothes or baby furniture, and helps the elderly. As small, free furniture bank is on site for low-income households. The center provides gently-used women's and men's clothing. It is offered for people seeking employment and for people who are starting a new job. Women, including single or immigrant moms, may get free diapers too.

Runs a free clothing closet and food pantry. The clothing closet may have children, adult clothing, baby items or professional work attire. It takes place in July of each year for low income kids in central Texas and Travis County. First come and served only until items run out, and students need to be in 5th grade or younger.
