  • Rent and Housing Assistance Program is part of what Human Resources offers too. If you apply and are found to be eligible, this program can provide you with short term rent help and funds to pay security deposits, first months rent, and more. Customers are eligible and are behind on their rent will receive temporary rental subsidies for a period of up twelve months, and the money is intended to help them deal with financial emergencies and crisis.

 

 

 

  • Universal Service Funds are for winter heating costs. This energy assistance program will provides funding and grants to assist low and moderate income families in meeting the cost of their home heating bills and it will also provide them credit towards electric, utility, and natural gas bills.
     
  • Low Income Home Energy Assistant Programs (LIHEAP) is a free grant program for utility bills.

Atlantic County Salvation Army is a Christian charity that helps clients no matter their religion. This organization (856-696-5252) offers several emergency programs for Mays Landing and Atlantic City region. It will assist local families with paying for utilities, their monthly rent, money for heating bills and it offers free food from a local pantry. All of those funds are limited as it is financial in nature.

Other more material type goods may be provided too from the local center. The Camden Center for Law and Social Justice, Inc. is a privately funded, non-profit law firm that helps low income, the working poor, and  the immigrant community. Free health care services
