Davie, Stokes, Yadkin assistance programs.

Help with bills, rent, health care, and food

Emergency Relief Fund of Davie County or Social Intake- The Davie County DSS receives donations, including allocated United Way funds, and distributes the money to assist needy individuals and families who are in crisis situations and who do not qualify for any other emergency assistance, such as that from the government or local non-profits through the agency. Money can be used for water bills, utilities and gas, food, housing, and more.

The social intake component of the program receives and evaluates requests for emergency assistance for heating oil and fuel, power bills, rent, etc. In addition, it also receives requests for services such as Transportation, In-Home Aide Services, Gasoline, Placement Assistance, etc. The program provides information and referral assistance as needed to local non profits and charities, such as community clinics.

Salvation Army - Davie County - They offer a service known as the Emergency Financial Assistance program, which may be able to provide cash payments and grants for past due rent/mortgage, utilities and cooling bills, food, and prescription medicine. A Storehouse for Jesus - This charity is an independent non-profit Christian ministry that provides a large number of assistance programs and services. Get access to free food and clothing for families in need of help. The center also operates medical care, dental programs, eye and diabetes clinic and pharmacy program to dispense free prescriptions to the low income and working poor. (336) 751-1060

Tri-County Christian Crisis Ministry - Runs a food pantry and provides other aid for Davie, Stokes, and Yadkin County North Carolina. Jonesville based phone (336) 526-1089

Pilot Mountain Outreach Food Pantry - Offers free food, a thrift store, and clothing to low income. Dial (336) 368-4907

 

 

 

Consumer Credit Counseling Service, serves Davie County and the surrounding areas. This center is an non-profit United Way funded agency that offers confidential budget counseling, free debt management and debt counseling, HUD-approved housing counseling and Economic literacy. The credit counseling service is also accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Service for Families and Children. Member of National Foundation for Credit Counseling and United Way. Yadkin Valley Economic Development District, Inc. - This is the community action agency that serves the entire area, including counties of Davie, Stokes, and Yadkin.

  • Community block grants and emergency assistance -  This resources is wide ranging, and it, among other things, provides job search and transportation service to participants, career development, mileage reimbursement and compensation for job search and to and from work, financial aid and grants for schooling, housing and rent help, utility and energy assistance (click here), clothing for jobs (uniforms), financial assistance with payments and reimbursement on cars on automobiles, and other emergency aid and counseling.
  • General assistance - Other programs offered include Head Start, Weatherization, Senior transportation, medical assistance, elderly services, and more.

Programs help with rental expenses, with a focus on Davie County. Case managers at charities as well as government organizations can help qualified low income families apply for security deposit help, transitional housing, or funds for paying back rent. In most cases a pay or quit notice is required in order to receive any financial aid. More information.
