Find rental assistance is non-profits, churches and government agencies across Iredell, Davie, and Rowan County. There are several charity organizations as well as government run social service offices that try to prevent evictions in the region. So they offer everything from emergency grants to pay rent, security deposit assistance as well as free legal aid and more.

The funds available to these agencies is limited. Due to this they will often offer emergency rent or security deposit help senior citizens or families with children first, including single moms. Very limited funding is for Iredell County families. The non-profit operates shelters, offers loans for a portion of rent costs, transitional housing, and case management/job placement for the under employed.

Eviction prevention help is first come and served. Grants are issued on a walk in basis, while funds last. The charity can help with bills ranging from water to rental expenses or funds for mobile lot rent as well. A copy of lease and eviction notice is required.

Short term rent help is for very low income families and those in poverty, provided they are in self-sufficiency classes. They also offer food, applications to section 8 housing, and no-interest loans for some applicants to use for their past due rent.

Legal Aid of Central and Western North Carolina, which can be reached at (336) 272-0148. Free support is available to qualified low income residents of the region, including Iredell County. Lawyers will offer advice on stopping evictions or can even represent a tenant in court in some cases.
