Any type of housing or rent help is provided to individuals on a first come, first serve basis. There are also free household stuff, blankets for the homeless, and other support. Carolyn T. Smith Loaves and Fishes Outreach Ministry - The charity is only open Tuesday mornings. Small dollar amount of funds can help pay rent or security deposits, including on section 8 housing. Other resources in Travis County include utility help, transitional housing, and more. Rarely will free motel vouchers be available in Travis County TX. This is part of the nationwide SVDP network of churches and volunteers. Various social services are administered, including homeless prevention and shelter. As funding allows, zero percent interest loans may be issued to pay rent for qualified low income families in Travis County.

Housing Authority of Travis County - Main office is 502 E Highland Mall Blvd, Austin, TX 78752. The section 8 HUD voucher program is for very low income families, seniors, or the disabled. It provides rent help in the form of income based housing or apartments. Other services including home buying information, Family Self-Sufficiency, public housing, and information on loans. People impacted by domestic violence or assault can learn about housing or rent programs from the Asian Family Support Services of Austin (AFSSA). There is support for women who have been trafficked or that have faced abuse. There is also information on safe homeless shelters, benefits, free legal services and other resources. All Saints Episcopal Church at Greg House is at 209 W. 27th Street, Austin, TX 78705. Sign up on Tuesday mornings at 6am. Receive up to $25 to pay your rent. In addition, money can be used to pay for security deposits, medical expenses, gasoline, transportation, and many other bills and housing expenses. Call  (512) 476-3589.

Emergency Solutions Rent Grants may have funds for housing and rental costs. The federal government HUD organization will provide this on an annual basis in Travis County. Some of what may be offered includes emergency funds to pay utility connection deposits or rent along with case management. Low income housing, grants or loans for paying security deposits, legal aid and referrals all may be offered too, with a focus on preventing evictions. Can help the homeless get back on their feet and also locate low income housing. Referrals are given to government grants to pay security or utility deposits as well as job placement services. Get access to HUD housing first programs, storage help, budgeting assistance and other support for long term financial stability.

 

 

 

Baptist Community Center requires appointments. Call 512-478-7243. Get help paying for first month’s rent and other housing costs like a mortgage or energy bills. Free food is also passed out. Location is 2000 E. 2nd Street, Austin, TX 78702. Funding is limited, but Austin families can apply for rent help or money for electric, utility bills, or other emergency expenses.

Caritas of Austin - Address is 611 Neches Street, Austin, Texas 78701, phone (512) 479-4610 or 512-472-4135. If you have an unexpected emergency, such as job loss or medical condition, this non-profit organization can help you pay your rent and get back on track. A major focus is on seniors, the disabled or ill. Receive money at most once per year. This is an agency that works to address the crisis.

Legal Aid of Central Texas - Tenants facing eviction may get answers to questions on their legal rights and responsibilities answered. Travis County Family Support Services Division has multiple locations.  Dial (512)267-3245. In order to apply for rent assistance, the potential client needs to apply within 14 days of rent due date. Clients may request assistance once every 12 months at most. In addition, the applicant to the center must also join up for a workforce development activity such as help finding employment, job training, education, literacy or GED classes, etc. There are some limited exceptions.Rent assistance Austin and Travis County

St. Paul Catholic Church at 10000 David Moore Rd., Austin Texas 78748. Call 512-280-4460. Has very limited funding and relies heavily on donations and volunteers. May be able to provide for first months rent, security deposits, or maybe a partial rent payment to help prevent homelessness. A number of housing type expenses can be paid for. All payments would be made to the landlord.

Greater Mt. Zion Church

Limited rent help to low-income families or tenants is offered. The Austin TX church has limited, emergency financial help for rent, utilities, deposits and even a partial mortgage payment.

Trinity Center - 04 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78701. Based on funding, the charity can pay up to $25 for rent. On Thursdays up to 10 people can get financial aid, and in addition on Tuesdays (women only) can get rent help. Call  (512) 610-3500. Saint Austin Catholic Parish. The parish is at 2026 Guadalupe Street, Austin, Texas 78705.  Apply for financial assistance with paying rent, utilities and electric bills, and other financial support or aid. They also assist immigrants and Spanish speakers. They can help the homeless pay for moving expenses or security deposits. AIDS Services of Austin - Location is 7215 Cameron Rd, Austin, TX 78752. Call (512) 458-2437. The non-profit only helps people or families impacted by HIV or AIDs. Emergency financial aid, transportation, low cost loans, rent help, affordable housing and other help is offered. They coordinate supportive housing in Travis County and help patients pay their rent, deposits, and other bills so they have a place to live.

 

 

 

 

 

 

St. Ignatius Catholic Church (St. Vincent de Paul), located on  126 W Oltorf St, Austin, TX 78704, phone (512) 442-3602, runs an onsite free food pantry. They also offer rental assistance, utilities, free motel vouchers and other low income housing assistance available. They can generally assist only several low-income clients per month, usually within the first few days of the month. Provides assistance once every 6 months to qualified people.

Community Centers in Travis County offer benefits. This may be cash aid, social services, low cost housing or government rental assistance programs. Much of the aid is a social service type program for the very low income or families in poverty, including residents on TANF or SNAP.
