Where to Get Help Paying Rent in Shreveport, Caddo, and Bossier Parish.
If you're behind on rent in the Shreveport area, the most important first call depends on your situation. There are organizations in Caddo and Bossier Parish that may provide rental assistance or security deposit help as well along with other support. This page lists verified contacts for all of these, plus free legal aid for tenants dealing with an eviction proceeding.
Caddo Parish residents should start with the Caddo Community Action Agency — they provide one month of rent or housing assistance to Caddo residents with an eviction notice, once per household. For smaller one-time help, or if CCAA can't assist, St. Vincent de Paul and Catholic Charities of North Louisiana both run active emergency assistance funds. Veterans have a dedicated VA-backed program through Volunteers of America North Louisiana.
If you're in Bossier Parish, the Bossier Office of Community Services is the primary local resource. For Section 8, both the Shreveport and Bossier City housing authorities often have closed waiting lists — calling to confirm current status before making plans around it is worth doing.
