Kent County and Warwick free food pantries.

There are food pantries and soup kitchens in Kent County that low to moderate income families can turn to for help. The centers provide families with everything from a free bag of groceries to household supplies or hygiene items. Many of them are located in the Warwick region, but if those pantries near you can't help then residents can cross over county lines to other nearby sites. There is also a phone number at the bottom of the page for more resources.

The locations offer a number of programs to clients. They include surplus USDA commodities as well as free, emergency boxes of food. During the holidays, such as Christmas or Thanksgiving, meals may be served by the Kent County charities. When applying for assistance for any of these programs the person should bring proof of income and residency.

While slightly less common, some of the Kent County pantries will have clothing closets on site. For those that do, this will allow them to offer other types of goods. Those range from school supplies to warm winter clothing or personal goods. So each location is different, but they all try to help.
