List of Free and Low Cost Health Clinics in Akron and Summit County Ohio

Finding a doctor or dentist without insurance or extra money can be difficult. In Summit County, there are community health centers and free clinics that provide basic checkups, sick visits, dental care, prescriptions, and other services. Many of these locations use a sliding fee scale, which means the cost is based on income. In some cases, care may be free for patients who qualify.

This page provide information on the income based dental and medical clinics, including contact information and an overview of the services provided. Most clinics will ask for a photo ID, proof of income such as a pay stub or tax return, and information about household size. Calling ahead is recommended to confirm hours, services, and eligibility requirements.

Since the county is spread out, we have grouped these by area so you can find the one closest to you in Akron, Barberton, or the surrounding suburbs. Most of these clinics are "Federally Qualified," meaning they get government funding to treat everyone regardless of their bank account balance.

  • TIP: Many clinics may have wait times, especially for dental services. Calling early in the day, asking about cancellations, or checking multiple locations can sometimes help patients be seen sooner.
