Free school supplies Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.

There are free school supplies given away all across Mecklenburg County. Charities, churches, volunteers and others help low income families get students the stuff they need for the school year. Everything from shoes to notebooks, free bookbags, sneakers, laptops, dresses, pens, pencils, gift cards, electronics and much more may be offered. The main events and giveaways are below, or for additional help or more assistance, try free clothing closets in Charlotte.

Most of the free school supply assistance programs are in the city of Charlotte. But they also generally cover Mecklenburg County as well as other outlying counties in the region. Thousands of kindergarten through high school students get help each year. Single moms and dads, the working poor, and those parents in a financial crisis (among others) are often the main recipients.

Find places to apply at and register for goods. Note Charlotte North Carolina area parents should plan on applying for financial help for their school supplies during the summer months. All assistance is first come-served.
