There are churches, charities, and government financial aid programs that can help with preventing homelessness, including paying rent or security deposits.

Most of the organizations are based in Lebanon. But they offer housing assistance across all of Wilson County. The type of help varies and may include, but is not limited too:

Funds come from the Community Services Block Grant program. The Wilson County community action agency can help with utility bills, rent, job training, deposits, transportation and other bills using those CSBG funds.

Salvation Army of Wilson County run the Center and Center of Hope program. It provides basic needs along with emergency rent help for people leaving homelessness. There are also food pantries, a low cost thrift store, funds for utility bills or rental/security deposits, homeless shelter and other support. The charity also has free Educational Services, Legal Counseling, Transition to Permanent Housing, and Substance Abuse services.

Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee, Wilson County and the Cumberlands can assist with housing needs. Low income families that meet disability, age, financial need or other requirements may get help. Money is used for back rent to stop evictions, electric or gas bills, or other emergency expenses.
