White County assistance programs.

Community Action Program for Central Arkansas, Inc.

This non-profit agency services residents of Searcy and White County Arkansas. Case managers will direct people to emergency financial aid and also try to find long term solutions, such as a new job skill or career counseling. Some of the assistance programs offered include.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) - This program will provide qualified clients with grants and funds for paying energy bills. Most of the funding is provided either during the winter or summer months (for cooling bills).

Food Pantry - Provides emergency food to low income and other eligible persons.

Weatherization - Free home improvements help people save money on utility bills. Some of the improvements can also address safety issues at the same time.

Other programs offered include Christmas Food Box Distribution, Housing Aid, and Angel Tree Project. These will help ensure families receive some form of holiday assistance, with a focus on children in White County Arkansas.

Housing solutions, ranging from short term accommodations to referrals to loans or security deposit assistance for the homeless. Community action is a homeless and poverty fighting organization, so addressing housing needs of seniors and the vulnerable is a focus.

Food assistance in White County Arkansas

College Church of Christ - His House ((501) 268-7156) provides food assistance until families and individuals can regain financial stability over the long term. If an applicant does need very long term assistance then volunteers from the church may refer people to government aid such as food stamps.

Good Samaritan Center of White County, which is based in Searcy Arkansas (phone (501) 279-3642) provides commodities and food assistance to families with limited income.

Crosspoint Ministries is another local food pantry of White County. The location is 805 Highway 64 West, Beebe, Arkansas 72012. Call (501) 940-1142 for hours and information on the application process.

Find more non-profit and charity free food pantries as well as soup kitchens. There are almost 20 additional locations that pass out free boxes of food or that may serve a holiday meal. Rent and utility bill payment assistance programs

Second Mile Ministry - The Benefit Bank of Arkansas can be reached at (479) 521-4787. This nonprofit provides cash grants and financial assistance in small amounts to people who need help. Funds can be used for utility bills (including gas, electric, and water) as well as Rent Payment Assistance. The focus is on those residents who may otherwise be homeless if they did not receive any financial support from the non-profit.

White River Area Agency on Aging, which can be reached at  ((501) 268-2587), helps senior citizens and the elderly in the community. The agency offers independent living services and resources. In addition, they also offer a rare and limited one time utility bill payment assistance to qualified senior citizens and older adults. Also get help with food, medications, counseling, and other community services. Staff can advise people on programs created just for seniors, such as Medicare or Meals on Wheels.

Emergency relief may be provided by local Salvation Army centers. They administer programs for the less fortunate and low income in Searcy and White County Arkansas. While the focus is on basic needs such as food, housing, and clothing, some other financial aid may be offered to pay rent or energy bills. Doctors, nurses, and medical professionals provide a community clinic for those individuals and children without insurance and unable to pay for medical bills.
