Get help with your mortgage and foreclosure assistance in Washington.

There are several different programs and resources you can turn to in Washington to help prevent a foreclosure or that can provide homeowners with mortgage payment assistance. Organizations and programs serve the entire state, including Seattle and Spokane Washington.

Washington Homeownership Resource Center

This is a non-profit organization that provides help to low to moderate income residents throughout Washington. They offer them information on a number of financial aid and assistance programs. Many of the resources and services they offer are free to qualified individuals. They also partner with numerous housing counselors and foreclosure prevention programs across Washington state. Learn more.

Foreclosure help from attorneys

Another service is offered by the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA). Housing counseling agencies

The United States Housing and Urban Development department (HUD) has certified numerous non-profit agencies in Washington. These locations will provide homeowners across the state with housing, mortgage, and foreclosure prevention services. Many of the programs available from the HUD approved agencies are available for free to income qualified families. Learn more on Washington HUD counseling agencies.

Third party mediation in Washington state

The state of Washington has recently created a mediation program known as the Foreclosure Fairness Act of 2011. The program basically ensures that homeowners are provided both time and notice to meet with their bank or lender in an effort to find a solution to their housing crisis.

As part of this process, the homeowner will be sent a formal notice at the time of foreclosure. The notice will provide details on the process and who to contact to commence the mediation process. Both the lender and the homeowners need to take part. Learn more on Washington foreclosure mediation and how this process can benefit struggling homeowners.

Programs that provide foreclosure prevention for Seattle homeowners
