Washington DC HUD approved foreclosure counseling agencies.

Washington DC and the surrounding areas are served by several different HUD certified housing agencies. Call them to apply for free or low cost foreclosure counseling and prevention. They also offer individuals who need help several other resources assistance programs.

Some of the other services provided include credit repair and debt management, advice on filing bankruptcies, and budgeting and financial assistance. These Washington HUD certified counseling agencies know that in order to help people get back on track with paying their mortgage and stopping a foreclosure, the underlying issues of that housing crisis need to be addressed.

The Urban League has locations in most cities and states throughout the nation. Each location has on site housing, debt, and/or credit counselors. Many will also provide other services, such as job finding skills, access to financial assistance and grant programs, and a wide range of other housing aid and resources.

Free legal aid is offered by lawyers for these non-profit law firms. Almost all services are run on a pro-bono basis for the low to moderate income, elderly, unemployed, and people who are faced with a crisis.
Lawyers will also work closely with housing issues, such as provide free advice on stopping a foreclosure and trying to keep people in their homes.
