Free holiday assistance in Tuscaloosa County area.

There are three main agencies in the general Tuscaloosa County Alabama region that offer assistance during the holidays. The programs include free Christmas gifts and toys for children; meals, food, or turkey dinners for families; visits to the elderly or homebound; and holiday parties. Find where to get help at Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other key holidays in the area of Tuscaloosa Alabama including the counties of Tuscaloosa, Hale, Greene, or Pickens County below.

As far as the assistance programs to apply at, they include Toys for Tots, the Salvation Army Angel Tree, and local churches that are part of Catholic Services. Those are the four primary charities that offer help to the low income, working poor, and people in a crisis. What may be passed out includes free toys, books, games, Legos, dolls, sporting goods, and gifts for children. Free food, including turkeys and all the ingredients, may be offered from Adopt a Family along with gift certificates. There are also other resources too.

What may be offered to kids includes, but is not limited to, free games, books, electronics, dolls, trucks, clothes, and much more.

The free Toys for Tots Christmas assistance program will open up for applications starting in October. It is generally run with local charities or partners including the McDonald Hughes Community Center, however it can change from year to year. Parents with children from infant to age 12 can apply for free toys or other items. The Salvation Army – This is always a leading social service and holiday assistance charity. Thousands of low income families may get help each year. Assistance programs include a free food pantry, Angel Tree for free toys at Christmas, financial aid, shelter, and hot meals. The elderly and senior citizens over the age of 60 in Tuscaloosa AL can get help at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. There will be meals served, often in a group environment to provide companionship and a holiday party environment.
