Many housing, homebuying and rent programs are run. They include applications to HUD section 8 vouchers as well as low income rent subsidized apartments. They also help low income and working poor in State Island buy homes, gain self-sufficiency, process loans, and run public housing units in the borough. Salvation Army Community Centers
There are two in the Staten Island region. They offer a number of social services and programs for housing, rent, utility bills, food, and more. The financial help is limited. But when funding allows, low income families, struggling tenants and those facing homelessness may get help. Rent, mortgage, water, energy bill assistance and other aid is offered.
