Catholic Charities assistance programs in Southern Mississippi.

Catholic Charities provides emergency assistance and services to Mississippi from several outreach offices. The main centers are in the towns of Gulfport, Bay St. Louis, Biloxi, Hattiesburg, and Pascagoula. Resources available, including free food, basic needs and financial aid, are offered in several counties including Harrison and Jackson.

Interested individuals will need to apply for help. All assistance and basic needs provided through the community outreach offices will need to start with the applicant attending comprehensive case management. Clients of the organization work one-on-one with a social worker or case manager. Together you will work on a plan to address your needs.

Financial help from Southern Mississippi Catholic Charities

The case management process put into place by Catholic Charities entails an application process, intake, and then a basic needs assessment. This can lead to budgeting education, community resource information, employment opportunities and then the creation of attainable short to long term goals. The client will need to come up with realistic objectives that will assist them in becoming self-sufficient. Some of the components of this process include food distribution, financial assistance, free clothing, infant items and other household assistance. They also have information on Mississippi cash welfare assistance programs. Call 1-855-847-0555 to apply, donate, or volunteer.

As part of the Social Services and Resettlement Process, a bilingual staff will help people meet their basic human needs, including child care referrals, job referrals, finding homes and enrolling children in schools. Case managers will also help with applying for government programs, including citizenship. Last but not least, look into employment assistance. The charity acts as a community liaison to assist refugees and immigrants with finding employment. Also access follow-up services in order to maintain continued employment.

Twelve Baskets Food Bank works with Catholic Charities in an effort to provide groceries, food and other needed products to people in Harrison, Jackson, Hancock, Pearl River, George, Perry and Stone Counties.
