Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program Connecticut.

Low income individuals will receive low income housing or apartments based on income from the Connecticut Section 8 Housing Voucher program. It is a federal government funded resource that is run in partnership with states and local communities as well as Housing Authorities (HAs) in CT near you as listed below. Section 8 HUD vouchers and related programs are offered to people of all backgrounds and ages, including seniors, the disabled, single moms and families with children.

Below you can find a listing of public housing and community action agencies to call to apply for Section 8 rent help in Connecticut, including emergency section 8 vouchers with no wait list that are offered immediately Some families can also transfer, or port, their vouchers to a new home or apartment in the state. The Connecticut Housing Authority can go over those requirements as well as applications too.

There is almost always an extensive waiting list in place as well, however there are also emergency section 8 vouchers for the disabled and elderly in Connecticut. Only a small fraction of applications can be fulfilled, and the application period is also limited to certain times of the year.

For those that qualify, a voucher will be provided (including some immediately) to them and it can be used to pay a portion of their rent expense. The client will also need to pay towards their housing costs, and they will usually need to pay up to 70% of the total expense for the home or apartment (or 30% of their income). The section 8 program in Connecticut, as well as the emergency voucher service that may be near you, is flexible and clients can select their own, private housing unit that was approved by a PHA.

Apply for section 8 in Connecticut from housing authorities near you.
