Get financial help for utilities, housing and food in Rio Rancho NM community

Storehouse West will help people with no money and low-income families that are experiencing a short term need for help. This may include those who are out of work, that have no unemployment benefits or whose benefits have ended, individuals on welfare or people who are currently waiting for their first employment check. The non-profit can also help those in Sandoval County who receive regular assistance on who may be on TANF, SNAP Food Stamps, Disability and low income Senior Citizen on social security.

Some of the social services offered include the following. All applications are in Spanish too.

  • Rent Payment Assistance or money for a security deposit.
  • There are also free Baby Clothing items, furniture, formula or dialers, including for single moms.
  • Free food or clothes, personal grooming supplies, soap, detergent, tablet and more from a free pantry and clothing closet. There are also SNAP and EBT cards, and even learn about an EBT free tablet.
  • School supplies or clothing for free, including uniforms and back packs for students in the Rio Rancho NM area.

  • Among other programs they offer include rent help from the Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing Program (HPRP). Among other services offered by HPRP include short to medium term housing assistance, money for utility bills, funds for paying utility and security deposits, moving costs, and other support. Free lawyers also help tenants in Sandoval County that are facing eviction.
  • Another option is the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program. This offers a variety of aid, including counseling, employment services, information on applying for government programs, possible emergency financial assistance, and more.

Sandoval Catholic Charities is a leading human services agency to call in the region. The non-profit and the churches that partner with the organization have a few key needs that they focus on, including for immigrants or migrant workers, the homeless or poor and others. They can also serve as a source of referrals and guidance for any low income family or individual in the region.

Some examples of the services offered include the following. The Gateway to Self-Sufficiency is for homeless families and women in the region. Many people are able to enroll into Catholic Charity education and job training resources, as increasing your income is the long term key to self-sufficiency. A rental assistance program may have limited funds for people facing eviction or a disconnection of their utility service. Sandoval County free temporary and transitional housing programs are available for the recently evicted and homeless. Some resources are for low income families, single parents, and immigrants. Homeless and eviction prevention assistance is available in Sandoval County and Rio Rancho NM. Once all conditions have been met, qualified low to income or formerly homeless families may be provided financial help. Housing expenses covered by a loan or grant can include deposits, back rent, lease application fees, low-income apartment costs and more. St Vincent De Paul Society has a local operation. The Society of SVDP offers emergency assistance to low-income families in need, immigrants and the homeless. Get free food or clothing. There is limited emergency funding for utility bills, rent, and medical expenses. They also offer support for individuals seeking employment and provide resources for financial education. New Mexico Human Services has a Sandoval County office. The low-income will get help from public assistance and government benefits. Programs include free food or formula from WIC or SNAP. New Mexico Legal Aid - Rio Rancho Office helps the low-income and seniors. Clients will meet with a lawyer / attorney for free. Their services include help with housing issues such as topping evictions or foreclosures. There is also free legal aid in applying for public benefits, family law, domestic violence, wills for seniors and consumer issues, including debt collector help. Food pantries and free grocery vouchers

St. Felix Pantry, Inc. is a local food pantry that will serve people and families from Rio Rancho and Bernalillo as well as the surrounding areas. Free or income based medical or dental care Sandoval County

El Pueblo Health Services is a free community clinic that can offer medical care on a sliding fee scale based on income. The uninsured may also receive assistance including people on Medicaid or with no money. However various forms of insurance are also accepted by the clinic and dentists including Medicaid Managed Care, CHIP, or the general relief fund, including for dental work. There will be free medical such as eye exams, diabetes management, and OB/GYN or telehealth. Rio Rancho Family Health Center is a local community clinic. A sliding fee/variable billing program is in place for people who do not have health insurance.
