San Diego County transitional housing resources and homeless shelters.

Families in need of housing assistance in San Diego can call upon a number of resources. They range from homeless shelters to lower income as well as transitional housing units. Most of the agencies also have case managers and volunteers that will work with clients on finding them long term, low income permanent homes or apartments. So a wide range of housing services and case management is available to the homeless and individuals facing eviction.

The demand for affordable housing is very high and resources are limited. So there are generally waiting lists in San Diego. Also some of the services are focused on a certain client or type of issue, such as veterans, senior citizens, victims of domestic abuse, immigrants (documented or not) or single parents.

If an organization can't meet your needs, they may be able to refer individuals to other government sponsored or private programs. For example, they will often have information on low income housing programs such as section 8, apartments for seniors, and similar options. When faced with eviction or trying to find a new place to live, you do have options.
