Foreclosure clinics in San Diego.

Free foreclosure prevention clinics are run by a partnership between the San Diego County Library as well as the non-profit Housing Opportunities Collaborative. The clinics are usually held at least once a month, and can be offered at different locations across the county. Most of the workshops are held in local libraries.

Homeowners will be able to receive various form of assistance from the centers, which can include free foreclosure prevention counseling from volunteer lawyers or housing specialists. Information on a number of housing assistance programs and resources are offered for struggling or delinquent homeowners. Some of the locations where the clinics will be held are listed below; however the schedule and locations will change due to demand and other factors.

Housing Opportunities Collaborative, or HOC, is a federal government HUD certified non-profit housing counseling agency that provides homeowners across San Diego advice, information, and assistance when it comes to delinquent mortgages or foreclosure notices. They also take a leading role in running the clinics and workshops.

The sessions will provide attendees with educational resources and specialized assistance to promote informed financial decision making. The San Diego County library has been helping run many of these clinics since 2009, and participants have saved millions of dollars in fees. Thousands of borrowers have had their loans modified over the years, and have been able to save their homes. Much of that success can be attributed to these workshops and what people have learned.

By the library and HOC partnering together to offer these free housing clinics, the combined resources of these organizations can provide customers with access to a number of invaluable resources and opportunities. These resources may allow people to save their homes and also build better lives by regaining self-sufficiency.

The free clinics will offer, among other things, educational sessions and they will give homeowners an opportunity to speak to a variety of professionals. Get free, confidential support from lawyers, mortgage counselors, and other housing experts. Learn about the foreclosure process, bankruptcy, and all of the mortgage assistance programs that are offered.

If you attend a clinic, all participants must bring their last mortgage statement, a photo I.D., home loan documents, and any lender documents to the event. A full review of your financial situation will need to occur.

Attend these educational sessions and speak to a lawyer, housing, or mortgage counselor on foreclosure, bankruptcy and how to keep your home. There is no charge to speak to these professionals. As you will learn from these workshops, foreclosure is the legal process that your bank or mortgage lender uses to take your home when you are too delinquent on your mortgage payments. If you are falling behind on your home loan payments, or are faced with foreclosure, then you can work to save your home-or at least limit the financial hardship that you may be faced with. A key is to understand your options, take the appropriate steps, and this is where Housing Opportunities Collaborative and these clinics can help.
