Saginaw, Midland, and Livingston County clothing closets.
Regional clothing closets and thrift stores provide free or low cost clothing, school items, and household goods to qualified low income families. Many residents of counties including Livingston, Saginaw, and Midland have turned to these local non-profit centers and churches for short term support.
A large percentage of individuals that use these centers are doing so for the first time. They may be struggling from the weak economy or a short term crisis situation. The clothing closets will try to meet the demands from the community while the local thrift stores are available to people regardless of their income.
While the locations will have limited availability and hours, some of what may be provided is as follows. Income qualified and indigent residents may receive vouchers for free work clothing, school supplies, winter coats, and Christmas gifts. The thrift stores in Saginaw and other towns may sell gently used furniture, household goods, baby supplies/clothing, personal supplies, and similar goods. Case managers and volunteers will often provide referrals too. It a location isn’t near you they may be aware of other more convenient centers.
