Rockingham and Hillsborough County Catholic Charities assistance programs.

The assistance available in New Hampshire tends to be focused on material needs and not as much on funds for paying bills. The agency can provide support including food, support to immigrants and seniors, meals, and even some medical services. While programs are available across New Hampshire, a focus is on the larger population centers in Manchester, Rockingham, and Hillsborough counties.

One of the main programs offered by Catholic Charities is the New Hampshire Food Bank. The non-profit provides food to churches, qualified nonprofit agencies, soup kitchens, and charities. Those centers then serve the hungry throughout New Hampshire. The agency also offers other support, including help in creating wide-reaching programs for those faced with poverty and who are struggling.

Catholic Charities also works closely with local farmers, community food drives, and even local grocery stores and wholesalers. Other food assistance type programs that are administered include the SNAP Outreach Program, Backpack Program for students, Mobile Food Pantry, and a Culinary Training Program.

While not necessarily direct aid, Catholic Charities is heavily involved in Parish and Community Services. The organization will do its best to support and assist local non-profits and other groups in addressing social needs, such as hunger, poverty, aging, homelessness and disability. They work on developing solutions to these critical problems.

Volunteers and social workers from the agency can provide information and referral services. For example, learn about public assistance such as food stamps or energy bill assistance intake sites. Or get details on financial assistance that may be offered by other non-profits in Hillsborough County. They are also a good place to turn to for information on job training and educational services. In general, your local Catholic Charity center provides a wealth of knowledge to those who need help. Outreach is widely available which includes collaboration with community efforts and programs.

Immigrants can also get support too. Counseling, affordable legal advice and other forms of assistance is available to low-income individuals who have immigration questions. Catholic Charities is also a site in which people can contact if they want to apply for immigration benefits.

The organization works closely with Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC) and they assist with completing various applications and petitions. Get help in filing for Adjustment to Lawful Permanent Residence, Family-Based Visas, Consular Processing/Visas, Visas for Religious Personnel. The agency can also assist anyone in New Hampshire that needs to file for Political Asylum. Some focus is even on helping immigrants find a job in the state.

Senior services are offered as well. The nursing and rehabilitation centers of New Hampshire Catholic Charities are in certain towns and cities, including in Rockingham. The locations will provide exceptional care for the elderly. A strong effort is to meet the psychological, health, physical and spiritual needs. The centers offer senior citizens a warm and friendly atmosphere where they can access affordable skilled nursing/short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and dementia/Alzheimer's care.

Patients who just exited hospitalization can access skilled nursing and rehabilitation services that are coordinated by Catholic Charities. It is post acute care and can help with general or cardiac surgery, traumatic and brain injuries, and joint replacement and orthopedic surgery. Some complex services can be provided too, such as nutritional support, pain and diabetes management. So if you need a place to recover then Catholic Charities can serve as a resource.
