Rental assistance programs in Rapides Parish.

Several organizations focus on offering housing assistance, including help with rent or security deposits, in the Rapides Parish region. They combine government grants with loans or legal aid. There is financial aid for paying back rent, emergency homeless shelters, section 8 HUD vouchers and even security deposit or moving cost assistance. Find where to get one time or long term rental assistance in both the city of Alexandria as well as entire parish.

The funds (or other forms of assistance) can come in many forms. They include one or more of the following:

  • Free mediation or legal advice that is for landlord – tenants issues as well as housing discrimination.
  • Cash grants for paying any number of housing costs – rent, security deposits, utility or energy bills, storage expenses, and much more.
  • Long term support, ranging from case management to free debt/credit counseling, rent help from section 8 HUD vouchers and more.
  • Some of the non-profits may issue short term loans for housing costs in an effort to encourage self-sufficiency and financial discipline.

All of the rent assistance (as well as other support) is limited. Tenants, homeowners, and low to moderate income families in Rapides Parish are assisted on a first come and served basis.
