Learn where and how to get help with rental payments in Polk County Florida. In an effort to reduce evictions and homelessness, non-profit agencies, churches and government social services provide assistance. There is emergency rent help for income qualified families, moving or security deposit assistance and other programs.

Resources in the region range from grants for senior citizens to no interest loans for working poor families with an income. Individuals that need to move or that are homeless can also apply for security deposit help as well as turn to a charity for funds for paying their first months rent. There are also section 8 HUD vouchers in Polk County as well as some charities that give free motel or hotel vouchers.

Lake Wales Care Center is a regional non-profit. Address - 140 E. Park Ave., Lake Wales, Florida 33853-4124. Call: (863) 676-6678. Case mangers can offer referrals to rental assistance. Other aid includes furniture, beds, medical equipment, and housing counseling.

Salvation Army - Social Services has two offices. They can place a client into emergency shelter. There is housing for seniors as well as single parents. When funding is available, money may help for rent or deposit expenses. They also can help them locate a home to live in, provide job placement, and other support. Frostproof Care Center provides support to renters in the city only. The faith based charity help the poor. There may be occasional grants for a security deposit on an approved home, or funds for overdue rent in Polk County.

 

 

 

 

Polk County Social Services has government and public aid for the very low income or single mothers too. Apply for temporary financial support for utilities is combined with rent help and eviction assistance. They also offer budgeting, applications to federal aid, and much more. Lakeland Housing Authority main office is 430 Hartsell Ave, Lakeland, Florida 33815. They run the section 8 HUD voucher rent subsidy program for Polk County. The very low income, single mothers, seniors or disabled are even given priority. There is also public housing, low cost apartments, self-sufficiency services and other grants. Family Emergency Services of Winter Haven has emergency help. The office, with its case workers, is at 320 Avenue T, N.W., Winter Haven, Florida 33881. Osceola Council on Aging will only help seniors, the elderly or disabled. Limited financial help for a mortgage, back rent or utility-cooling bills. It is an emergency funds only. Haines City SVDP - St Vincent De Paul Society is a parish at 1001 S 10th St, Haines City, Florida 33844. Main number is (863) 419-4819. Volunteers from the church offer financial help. Expenses that can be paid include rent, utilities, food, security deposits and more. Low cost furniture may be given for a new home too, in addition to the rental funds.
