-One time donations from the public, fund raisers held, and more.

No matter where the money comes from, the Salvation Army in Pickens County works to help the less fortunate and poor. Whether it is advice/financial help to keep the power on, feed a family, or pay the rent, that and more is available. In addition, all of their social services will include some type of case management support as well.

Resources available

There are categories of support. They can change throughout the year. Some examples of the assistance that the Easily and Pickens County Salvation Army may provide include the following. When it comes to programs for paying for bills or housing, this will be the most limited with a waiting list often in place.

-Low cost goods are sold from the thrift store. Furniture, beds, birthday and Christmas toys, chairs, dinettes, cribs, and many other items are sold, and the money goes to pay for the operation of the Salvation Army.

-Grant based financial  assistance – When the Salvation Army in Easley has funds, they may help with back rent; energy bills; prescription medications; gasoline; work expenses; and other critical bills.

-Food – There are a few ways the charity helps feed people and battle hunger. The food pantry has groceries, and a soup kitchen serves free hot meals. There are also applications to SNAP food stamps and other USDA programs.

-Free school supplies in Easley area - Students may get backpacks, bookbags, book, chrome books, panes, and much more. All ages of students may get free school supplies and other items.

-Care for kids – The main social services include a low cost summer camp in Pickens County along with mentoring as part of after school care.

-Clothing – Whether it is attire for work, or school uniforms/supplies for kids, this need is covered too.

-Holiday help – The Easley Salvation Army offers applications to Angel Tree for free Christmas toys, along with meals (at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas). There may be free Christmas tree, decorations, ornaments and more as donations allow. More on free Christmas Trees for low income families.

Other financial and basic need support can be arranged too. The list above is only a sampling; resources in Pickens County evolve over time. They also depend on funding. Even if the Salvation Army can’t help, the staff can often refer the client to another local agency that can. This may be a church, Department of Social Service office, or a homeless prevention program to name but a few.

Ongoing support and Pickens County Salvation Army case management

The Salvation Army works to address the cause of the hardship. The Case Management process reviews all aspects of the client’s life to find a solution. Whether it is a domestic violence issue, substance abuse, or financial (employment, debt, etc.) all concerns are covered.

The intake process is used to cover this. A case worker meets with the client to understand their needs. All of the sessions and information is confidential. Case management is a goal setting and follow up process. During the time frame, emergency short term help may be given (from the list above) if there is an immediate crisis.
