Palm Beach County Catholic Charities assistance programs.

Assistance and other social services are offered by the Palm Beach Florida Catholic Charities. Churches, volunteers and other charities have partnered together with the organization to help the less fortunate in the community. Everything from free or low cost care to senior citizens or retirees as well as help for immigrants, financial aid for bills or housing, or free items may be offered.

There is an application process for the Catholic Charities in Palm Beach County. All ages, races, languages, religions, and others can apply. Much of the resources are focused on helping seniors, immigrants, the elderly, families with children, and others who are most vulnerable in Palm Beach.

Catholic Charities programs for seniors, the elderly, and older residents

Catholic Charities Elder Affairs Program is focused on the many senior citizens and elderly who live in the Palm Beach County Florida area. The agency provides comprehensive, compassionate, social services and case management to those in need. Resources focus on addressing and resolving the concerns of the economically disadvantaged, low income and those without adequate community support. The Catholic Charity staff assists in the following.

Interview and assessment of the client needs when faced with life decisions. Your financial condition will be reviewed, and the case manager will meet with you and together you will decide if you need financial assistance for paying for basic needs such as medications, utilities, or housing.

  • Then develop a personalized care plan. Both budget planning, credit repair and bill payment needs will be addressed.
  • Get assistance with nursing home admissions if needed in the Palm Beach and greater Florida region.
  • Similar to above, receive assistance with securing medical/hospital admissions, and learn about hospital charity care plans and financial assistance programs.
  • Many elderly needs hearing devices or eye glasses, and Catholic Charities tries to assist. Even find free vision and eye exams.
  • The case manager will facilitate Medicaid and veteran applications.
  • Get help applying for financial assistance, such as LIHEAP or section 8 vouchers for seniors.
  • Receive ongoing, continual monitoring to assure clients physical/emotional well-being.

 

 

 

  • Many of the senior programs focus on individuals who are 65 years and older who are at risk financially, physically, mentally, emotionally, and/or spiritually.
  • Many senior citizens live in Palm Beach, and often have a fixed income. Therefore find other ways for senior citizens to get help in Florida, including from Agency on Aging programs.

Resources for immigrants and refugees in Palm Beach County

Refugee & Resettlement programs – The two main resources are known as the Reception & Placement and Cuban/Haitian Programs. The program has as its main goal providing help to foster independence, promote self-sufficiency and help with the integration of the newcomers into the local community.

Services offered by Catholic Charities include Affidavit of Relationship and Visa 93 filing; Pre-arrival services; Orientation and acculturation; Arrival and reception services; Case management services; Transportation services; Unaccompanied minor assessment of suitability and services; One month of financial assistance for R&P cases only; Applications for work authorization and Social Security cards; and support services and referrals for employment, health care needs, child care, education and public benefits.

 

 

 

 

Immigration Legal Services are offered in multiple languages, including Spanish. This Catholic Charity program provides services to foreign-born individuals who live in Palm Beach and who need immigration assistance. The program's focus includes Family Reunification; Adjustment application before the Immigration & Naturalization (I-485); Family Petitions (I-130); Fiancée Visa; Employment authorization under various programs; Temporary Protective Status; Naturalization applications; Re-entry permits and much more.

The primary goal is to provide services, including legal as needed, to those who are unable to access assistance in the public or private sector because of limitations. Catholic Charities also works with pro-bono (free) lawyers on this servicer. These assistance programs are offered with a small fee, so they are not always free in all cases. However you can find free lawyers near you for low income families.

Catholic Charity financial and material assistance in Palm Beach

Homeless prevention – When someone is faced with being homeless, which can be caused by unpaid rent or a disconnection of your utilities, then assistance may be provided in an emergency. While limited, and comes with restrictions, there may be times when the Catholic Charities in Palm Beach has financial assistance for paying utility bills or rent.

The homeless in Palm Beach Florida may receive help from the Samaritan Center. This is a facility for homeless individuals and families. It can provide clients with a long-term transitional residence focusing on people becoming sufficient and obtaining life skills. The primary goal of this center is the promotion and development of skills and methods to allow people successful re-entry into mainstream society.

The Catholic Charities Samaritan Center program offers intensive social services and case management that includes support such as medical referrals as well as emotional support. There are topics on finance management, parenting classes, advocacy, or access free mental health counseling or life skills workshops. There is also information on free or low cost dental care from both clinics as well as volunteers. As many residents struggle with insurance costs for that coverage. Churches also offer applications to public assistance, domestic skills training, conflict resolution and a variety of other job training and educational activities. All of these programs, and case management in general, is to help clients overcome their hardship.
