Salvation Army Outagamie County and Appleton.

The Outagamie County Salvation Army focus on helping low-income families, people facing a crisis, the homeless and others. The assistance programs fall into a few different categories. They include free food for the hungry, homeless shelter as well as medical needs, money for rent or electric bills and self-sufficiency. Get help from the Appleton area Salvation Army

 The Salvation Army center in Appleton is also a leading agency that responds to disasters, such as homeowners impacted by a fire or natural disaster. There are also free seasonal programs ranging from school supplies or Christmas toys for kids to summer camp and after school care. The Salvation Army case workers give some referrals to individuals or Outagamie County families in a long term poverty type situation. The social workers from the faith based charity will require applicants to take action on their own in an effort to stabilize their situation, and only then may any financial help be offered.

Emergency help and free items from Outagamie County Salvation Army

The emergency programs are limited in capacity as well as resources. In fact, much of what is available is done using referrals from the Family Services. As the social workers can direct the client to services such as the United Way 211 helpline or local church based groups. For long term needs, there is linkage to Section 8 housing vouchers for rent or SNAP food stamps to feed families.

Appleton Salvation Army financial and free material support – Regardless of race, religion, or age, anyone can apply. There will be income requirements in place though, and the staff will need proof of that along with residency and/or identification. There is also financial help and support for single mothers or dads too.

  • Homeless prevention is available when funding is available. Not only may there may money for rental expenses, but applicants enroll into money management workshops and review tenant responsibilities. Learn how to stop an eviction in WI.
  • Transitional Housing will help the homeless and recently evicted acquire the skills they need to live independently, budget and improve their finances, and tips to secure safe permanent housing.
  • Material items from the Family Services center include items such as clothes for work, gasoline or bus passes for work, access to a free computer, and much more.

Most of the immediate aid is one time only. However if the individual or family does meet the Outagamie County Salvation Army’s eligibility criteria, and meet the goals in place, continued support may be given. Or if the funding runs out, there referrals are given to other alternative loan or rent programs.

 

 

 

The homeless, very poor, and families in an emergency can get free food as well as meals. The soup kitchen is where the hot breakfast as well as lunches are served from. There may also be cereal, coffee, dairy goods, and other items provided. Volunteers work at the Appleton Salvation Army kitchen to provide this service. Generous donations also allow the soup kitchen to operate including from Target Stores, Wal-Mart, and local restaurants.

Free holiday meals, and material support, is given too. The Appleton WI area Salvation Army has turkey dinners at Thanksgiving and a hot Christmas meal. When a parent has absolutely no way to provide a toy for their child, they can enroll into Angel Tree or Adopt a Family for free Christmas gifts too.

Emergency bags of groceries can be obtained at the client choice food pantry. This model of operations from the Salvation Army is more flexible in who can be assisted and what is provided to them. The pantry may be stocked with Canned Tuna, Ham,  Meats Chicken as well as canned fruit or vegetables. Others items range from pasta to boxes of cereal, soup, and much more. Applicants need proof of residence in Outagamie County as well as a copy of a photo State ID.

Salvation Army seasonal assistance and social services

Spiritual guidance, youth programs, and other self-sufficiency services are arranged as well. Sessions will not only help use Christian community tactics to helping the vulnerable, but also more practical items are given from the material support programs referenced above.

Students in grades K to 12 in Outagamie County can get free back to school supplies. The Salvation Army provides backpacks, pens, gift cards and personal hygiene items too. They help kids, no matter their age or size, kids the clothes and stuff they need for the school year.

 

 

 

 

The other Salvation Army youth services include the Seasonal Programs listed above, such Thanksgiving meals, Christmas Angel Tree, Food, and clothing. But there is also mentoring from volunteers and more. Other self-sufficiency will help clients of the Outagamie County Salvation Army develop the work and money management skills they need for long term success.
