Catholic Charities assistance programs Odessa area.

Families and individuals in the Odessa Texas region in need of help can look into the continuum of assistance programs that are offered by Catholic Charities. They offer services such as the Building Hope Campaign, job training, thrift stores, counseling and much more.

They may operate the leading Family Thrift Store in the community. The center provides quality, gently used clothing at affordable prices. People can shop for only what they need. In addition, Catholic Charities also distributes coats, clothing, shoes, and more to local non-profit agency clients and churches in Ector County Texas. The store may also provide household items and gently used furniture to families who have been impacted by a disaster such as a recent fire. Support is also offered for women who are starting over after long term domestic violence. All items sold at the thrift store help to generate income to support agency assistance programs and services.

The Building Hope Campaign available in Odessa can help address emergencies and basic needs. It can provide or pay for medicines, food, rent, and utilities. Staff will also prepare clients for a life of self-sufficiency through workforce training, counseling in money management, literacy, GED preparedness, and career counseling. All educational programs and related services are provided free-of-charge to those who qualify.

Other general agency services are wide ranging. Examples are below.

Housing, including assistance with paying utility bills to prevent termination of service. Homeless families can also get help with security deposits for subsidized housing. Catholic Charity counselors are also available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist with emergency shelter for abandoned, abused and stranded individuals in the community. Emergency rental assistance/eviction prevention grants may be offered. They also act as an advocate with Texas utility companies.

Employment services and workforce training includes assistance in obtaining clothing, an ID, boots, suits, and other needs required for temporary or permanent employment in Ector County.

Basic needs such as school supplies and clothing for children. Families can also receive coats and blankets. The center also distributes approximately 200 boxes of food per week to children, seniors, and local families. But a big goal is around helping children, including immigrants in Ector County, get the education they need. This is why Catholic Charities is involved in various free school supply programs.
