Free holiday assistance programs for Long Island, Nassau and Suffolk County.

Find where families from Suffolk and Nassau County NY can get free Christmas presents, toys, meals, Thanksgiving turkeys, and more. There are free holiday assistance programs available across Long Island. Charities or churches provide free Toys for Tots, meals or gifts from Adopt a Family, Angel Tree and other services across Long Island. Find free Christmas help in Nassau and Suffolk County.

Low-income families, the elderly, single moms and others can a free Christmas gift, meal, food basket, gift cards or toys, shopping sprees as well as Thanksgiving turkey dinners. Most of the goods are offered to children from the community, with a secondary focus being on assisting senior citizens. There is also the regional Toys for Tots Christmas gift program for children and teenagers as well as Angel Tree programs on Long Island.

Many low-to moderate income families struggle to provide for their families at Christmas or Thanksgiving. Charities, churches, and non-profits would like residents from Long Island to have some type of holiday joy, so they try to provide assistance. Numerous social services are available across Suffolk County, Nassau, and all towns. While emergency financial aid is offered, special holiday programs can offer free home delivered meals to seniors, clothing, toys for children, and other support. Council of Churches (LICC)

There are dozens of parishes that help the poor, less fortunate, immigrants and elderly among others. Everything from free Easter or Thanksgiving food baskets are offered to winter jackets or boots. Regional Toys for Tots programs - This service is run by charities and the USMC. Children under the age of 14 can get new, wrapped Christmas gifts for free. There may be video or educational games, clothes, sporting goods, dolls, books, bicycles and other items. The charity programs collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year. These toys are then given as free Christmas gifts to needy children in the Long Island community. The Salvation Army Long Island
There are several centers across Long Island New York. Provides assistance around each holiday, including Easter, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. Programs operate from food pantries or clothing closets. A limited program known as Holiday for Kids’ Sake is run. Free Christmas gifts are given to a couple hundred qualified kids each year, across Long Island. It is an adopt a family type service.

A charity organization that operates in both Suffolk and Nassau County. A number of assistance programs are administered. There are Christmas resources, Meals on Wheels, and Easter/Thanksgiving baskets. Everything from free Christmas presents to low cost thrift stores and financial help is offered. Several other churches and charities provide free holiday programs. The events and days come and go, and most are focused on residents of the immediate area. Find locations below.
