Rent help in Monroe County Pennsylvania.

Both tenants facing eviction and the homeless can receive either help with their rent or short term housing. Monroe County based agencies in the private sector as well as public entities work to assist the less fortunate in a crisis. Everything from grants for paying back rent or security deposits is combined with counseling, legal aid, and guidance.

There are a few housing services in the general Stroudsburg Pennsylvania area. Each agency administers their own type of assistance, but resources are always limited. They include the following:

-Homeless families can be placed into emergency shelter or enroll into transitional housing programs.
-Emergency grants from the federal government may pay rent or other housing related costs, including heating bills, to stop an eviction.
-Legal aid in Monroe County can also be available to tenants as well as women including victims of domestic violence.
-Other housing assistance ranges from Section 8 vouchers for paying rent on income based apartments, money to move or pay a deposit, and referrals.

Welfare includes the Emergency Shelter Allowance, or ESA. Grants assist with paying rental costs, mortgages, and more. The county will also help stabilize the housing situation, or support people in their quest for affordable long term housing.

Salvation Army of Monroe County Pennsylvania
Programs includes emergency shelter, food for single moms, furniture, and possible one time rent help. They assist  disadvantaged families and individuals, with a focus on seniors and homes with children including single moms.

A shelter and social services is for homeless individuals and families. They offer meals, referrals to public housing or rent deposit programs in partnership with social service agencies and other aid.
