Rental assistance in Manassas and Prince William.

Several non-profit agencies administer programs in Manassas Virginia as well as Prince William County that focus on offering rental assistance and funds for paying security deposits or other housing expenses. People who need help with paying their rent across Prince William County can call these charity organization, government agencies, or churches. Other services may be able to help people learn about local government rent and housing assistance programs, most of which are indicated below.

The primary goal of the non-profit agencies is to both help prevent evictions as well as help people or the homeless find new homes or apartments. To this end they may have some funds to pay security deposits, first month’s rent, and/or moving costs. Funding will also be limited by the Prince William and Manassas rent programs, so unfortunately not everyone can be helped. Counselors may also provide information on, and help applying for government programs such as section 8 or homeless prevention.

Benedictine Aid and Relief for Neighbors (BARN) Transitional Housing – Women and their children can get rent assistance, transitional housing, and shelter. Call for case management, permanent housing referrals and child development. Building, Encouraging, Support and Teaching (BEST) Transitional Housing Program – Single women in Prince William County can apply for help. Office of Housing and Community Development - Prince William County (OHCD) – A HUD certified rent and assistance non-profit agency. Eligible low income and qualified residents may participate in various housing programs and initiatives that focus on the areas of rental assistance program. Prince William County Office of Housing and Community Development offers rent help, money for deposits, and other housing resources. Apply for grants from the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program. ACTS Helpline is based in Dumfries, VA 22026 but serves Prince William County. Emergency assistance, including financial (for rent or energy bills), propane, medications, homeless shelters and more. A focus is on seniors and the vulnerable, but anyone can dial 703-221-3186 for information on cash grants for paying back rent, public assistance, and more.

A few different resources are offered by the government agency. Among them includes it offers short-term, mortgage and rental assistance to households experiencing an unforeseen financial crisis.

It also runs the Manassas Housing Trust Fund PWC Homeownership Assistance Program (HAP). Other services include family care shelter, transitional housing, emergency assistance fund, save & SERVE thrift shops, life skills training, Partnership for Success Program, and a career development program.

Salvation Army Prince William Corps offers emergency financial aid in Woodbrige and the entire county. They shelter the homeless, offer rental or mortgage assistance, and work to provide grants to stop homelessness. This support includes one time funds for paying back rent. Streetlight Community Outreach Ministries – May have limited financial assistance to help the impoverished men, women and children, as well as homeless, pay for bills and rent in an emergency. Woodbridge, Virginia – 22191

The goal of the church based community organization is to address emergencies. They may offer prevent evictions and reduce homelessness. It wants to help people achieve self-sufficiency. Get emergency rental assistance if you have a 5 day eviction notice or utility help. They also direct tenants to loan programs for any paying rent arrears they may have as well as provide relocation services.
