Macoupin and Morgan County region Salvation Army resources.

The Salvation Army of Jacksonville Illinois administers programs for people in the counties of Macoupin and Morgan and nearby areas. Several resources are available in an emergency, but the centers will specialize on more longer term solutions and self-sufficiency. Some of the primary services available in the region are listed below. Not that all resources in Jacksonville are limited.

As a general rule, the Salvation Army tries to do the most good for the needy and low income in the region. They rely heavily on donations from the community and volunteers. The non-profit will try to meet the basic needs, including emotional, physical and spiritual. While more limited, direct financial assistance for expenses may be available in a crisis. Case managers will try to assist anyone who seeks help.

Emergency services include some or all of the following. Appointments are made and services vary by each case and center in the region.

Housing, rent, and utilities. When faced with an eviction or disconnection then emergency assistance may be offered to those who qualify. If you are found to be qualified then the funds will be issued as a last resort. Applicants need to have explored federal government and Illinois government assistance first, before approaching the organization.

Often at the same time, other shelters are usually available in Macoupin and Morgan (or nearby counties) if you are too far behind on your bills or rent. Find both a place to stay and also sign up for comprehensive services and case management. In addition, receive a free, hot meal or information on longer term public aid, such as food stamps or section 8. Career counseling may be offered for clients. Some of the Salvation Army shelters focus on women, seniors, children, men, or families.

Items for medical needs may be available. This can include vouchers for prescriptions, eye glasses, medications and more. They will often have information and referrals to local community clinics too.

Feeding programs, surplus government commodities and more are available at soup kitchens and food pantries. Centers can provide free food services, including hot meals and lunches. Aid is for the hungry and working poor. Anyone, of any age or race, who needs a hot and healthy meal can come and be served.

The Salvation Army pantries in Illinois can help those who are struggling, including the unemployed. Assistance can help them keep their food on the table. Emergency food boxes, assistance, canned goods, and other aid is offered from the food pantries, local churches, charities, and other groups in Jacksonville Illinois. Surplus government commodities are often on site too.

Vouchers for clothes and furniture can be offered. This can include winter attire, including boots, winter coats, gently used furniture, and school supplies. Some may be offered during Christmas time. Donate used goods to the center if you can afford to. If your income is low enough then you may receive a voucher.
