Macon County Illinois free food pantries.

As many as 20 food pantries in the Macon County area help struggling families. The locations, many of which are churches or charities, provide a wide assortment of goods, most of which are free. What a Decatur Illinois area resident may find at a pantry includes the following.

-Free groceries, many of which are canned.
-Perishable food, including fruits, dairy, baby formula, and meats.
-Free hot meals are served at some sites, including at Christmas or Thanksgiving.
-Some food pantries also have hygiene supplies, feminine products, paper goods, and more.

The primary Macon County Illinois food pantries are below. Note most of them are open only one or two days per week. It is recommended to call in advance for hours as well as the application process.

A number of assistance programs are available. The food pantry and clothing closet help low income Macon County families. There is also financial aid, supplies including diapers, hot meals served, and nutritional classes organized.
