Interfaith Outreach Association provides many housing solutions in the region, including the city, Campbell, and Bedford County. There is financial aid for back rent, utility or security deposits, furniture, hotel rooms, storage, and lot rent too. Dial 434-846-6098, and leave a message if needed. Lynchburg Community Action Group has an emergency grant program. This is the non-profit community action agency for the area. Apply at most one time per year for mortgage, rent, or energy help. Salvation Army Family Services offers help too. One time rent help, free furniture, household goods, and assistance for single moms and the elderly. There is a homeless shelter and emergency motel vouchers too. Address is 2215 Park Ave, Lynchburg, VA 24501. Phone: (434) 845-5939.

Monelison Ministerial Association requires a referral from Amherst County Social Services. The help is at Madison Heights Baptist Church. Free furniture, rent help, loans, and more. Location is 329 Main Street, Madison Heights, Virginia 24572. Call 434-846-5914.

Section 8 HCV vouchers are at Lynchburg Redevelopment & Housing Authority, 918 Commerce Street, Lynchburg, VA 24504. There is always a waiting list. It is an income, rent subsidized housing program for the poor, seniors, and/or disabled. Private homes, free public housing and apartments can be leased. Dial (434) 485-7200.

Bedford Christian Ministries is only for low income and working poor families in Bedford County. Phone 540-586-2633. Emergency financial aid is based on income, and funds for rent or utilities. There are also case management services, and thrift store at 217 West Washington Street, Bedford, VA 24523.

Free Legal Aid Society is at 513 Church Street, Lynchburg, Virginia 24504. Lawyers offer eviction defense service, foreclosure counseling, help in applying for SSI grants or section 8 and more. Find a free attorney at 434-846-1326.
