Anyone in need can apply for emergency assistance.

There are a few parts of this. Depending on funding levels, resources, the applicant’s needs, and other factors the financial aid may be some or all of the following. They also help immigrants, farm, and migrant workers in Lake County, and all applications are offered in Spanish too.

Homeless prevention may offer the following forms of support: One time payment of utility bills and arrearage, if the money is needed to stop an eviction or power disconnection. There is also free counseling arranged to battle a foreclosure. Any type of financial help in Lake County will require the household to document a temporary, one time economic crisis.

The reason for the Catholic Charity Family Stability Program application is it needs to have been beyond their control (so not caused by them). In addition, any grants or emergency loans are only given to people who are able to demonstrate the financial ability to meet future living and housing costs on their own. They need to be able to buy food, pay the rent or energy bills, and pay other expenses based on their current and/or future income.

Any resident that is currently homeless may get help too from Catholic Charity churches. This can come in many forms. First, an emergency homeless shelter is normally used to stabilize the situation. Based on income eligibility as well as need, a resident can receive emergency food from the Catholic Charity free pantry. This center can be used at most quarterly, but the applicant needs to be able to prove they are taking the initiative to get long term support to solve their hardship. Catholic Charities is not providing help to those who do not take the steps to deal with their situation.

A box of food from the pantry can feed a family, depending on the size of it. Proof of residency and household occupants is required, but there is free food and groceries for immigrants too. The package consists of a few days worth of groceries. There may be canned or perishable goods, eggs, fish, meat, dairy, bread, and nutritious food. While not as common, the location also may have paper goods, soap, detergent, donated foods, personal care items, paper supplies and cleaning supplies.

When donations allow, Catholic Charities of Lake County Florida also provides Christmas, Easter, and/or Thanksgiving food packages. The staff may also help families with children apply for other holiday services, such as Adopt a Family. Or find other free Florida food pantries and soup kitchens.
