Johnson County Missouri assistance programs.

Missouri Valley Community Action Agency

This is the local non-profit agency that provides help with bills, advice, counseling, grants, and other services to Warrensburg and Johnson County Missouri families. A sampling of the programs offered include :

Energy Assistance Provides Help with Heating and Cooling Bills. The program itself is known as the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). It was created to assist low to moderate income  individuals and families who pay a large proportion of their total  household income in meeting their home energy needs and monthly bills. This Program helps many people, but in particular it targets disabled,  households with young children, and the elderly.

Crisis assistance is available to the many who are facing an emergency or unexpected hardship. The program can provide rental assistance, energy bill assistance, career development and job training, and other forms of financial aid and support.

Home weatherization program can help homeowners reduce heating and cooling bills, enjoy greater disposable total household  income due to lower cooling and heating bills, and ensure a home is safe and secure.

Self-sufficiency and referrals - Examples of these resources include Head Start, day care for low income parents, referrals to job training, and other support is offered. Case managers from  MVCAA can also help families from Warrensburg Missouri and the county apply for government grants for paying utility bills, rent, and other basic needs.

Johnson County government utility program

The county government has established its own Utility Assistance Program, and tens of thousands of dollars are provided to people in need each year.

 

 

 

The utility bill assistance program provides a $100 allocation each year for local Johnson County eligible households to help pay for their  utility bills. It can help pay electric, water, gas, and other expenses. The program is administered by the Human Services department. The program matches county government and city dollars to provide financial  help with water, wastewater, electric, natural gas and propane expenses. for qualified individuals. In addition, the program works in partnership with local nonprofit organizations, charities, churches and  other utility-assistance providers.

Salvation Army, Warrensburg

Call this agency at (660) 422-4304. While some of the aid they may be able to offer will depend on funding, in general they provide financial assistance for paying rent, utility bills, debt management and counseling, free food, and more.

Catholic Charities - Warrensburg Missouri

The non-profit charity organization provides support, including family and community service agency providing emergency financial assistance for bills, adoption services, access to a food bank and pantry, counseling, and foreclosure assistance and prevention tactics with a HUD-approved counselor. Help for Seniors and Disabled

The primary agency is the Care Connection for Aging Services. They cover multiple counties and focus on the elderly, retirees, and disabled in Johnson County as well as other areas. A wide variety of programs are offered, including the following.

  • -Information on Free Health Care, including Medicaid and Medicare.
  • -Assistance for senior or elderly caregivers, which ranges from respite to training.
  • -Income producing opportunities for seniors, including work at home jobs.
  • -Financial help for housing, prescription drugs, and other senior focused bills.
  • -Recreational activities as well as transportation.
