Free clothes, furniture and school supplies in Houston area and Harris County.

Find charities and churches in the greater Houston Texas area that give free clothes for work or school, household goods, furniture, baby items, back to school supplies and appliances to the low income. There are agencies in the Houston area, Montgomery County and other nearby cities. They give out free stuff for basic needs, and locate free clothes or furniture near you in Houston TX.

The organizations rely on donations from the community and resources vary. Some of the clothing closets, thrift stores and furniture banks may sell the items at a reduced price and others provide emergency vouchers that people can use to obtain free clothes or stuff for their family. This can include free school supplies, work uniforms, shoes, coats, boots, and items for a home or apartment such as furniture, couches or beds. There may also be free appliances in Houston, including fridges, washers or dryers. Free clothes are for adults, kids, as well as homeless people or those with no money.

Many of the Houston, Harris and Montgomery County non-profits also provide free seasonal assistance. This includes free birthday toys or winter coats as well as summer months stuff. Some locations focus on meeting the needs of seniors in the community, including free medical equipment, furniture or home modification support. When a center can’t help you, they will try to refer you to who can.

The non-profit of Liberty County assists low-income families, working poor, teen mothers and senior citizens. The center offers clothing, food, and more, including counseling. Clothing can include shoes, blankets, and more. Holiday assistance may be gifts and toys for children.

There is an Emergency Assistance program with clothes, furniture, work items and more. May have limited financial aid, support, and social services for local families. Some of what is offered may be basic needs such as clothing, food, or crisis support.

  • They also try to help low income families get set up in a new, affordable home, and that is what basic furniture items or kitchen supplies are for. Education is also key, so they coordinate with local churches to pass out free books, school supply items, computers, and many other goods to elementary to high school age kids.

Houston Childrens Charity

Houston Salvation Army
This center administers various social service programs, give out free stuff and offers emergency help for the low-income, single moms and homeless in Harris County. Included are free school supplies, baby clothes, food, thrift stores, and financial help for bills. There are multiple free clothing and household good distribution centers.
