HOPE Outreach Center programs.

For the hundreds of families in the HOPE Outreach Center service area that live with daily stress of facing hunger or homelessness, the staff from the charity may be able to help. The charity organization, which is based in Davie, has some limited support services for low income families and the working poor in Broward County, as noted below.

Those residents that are struggling to provide adequate food for their families can turn to HOPE Outreach Center’s Pantry. This service offers them a lifeline. It does so through the distribution of non-perishable foods and vouchers that have been donated by generous community members in Broward County Florida.

In addition to that, HOPE Outreach Center partners with area caterers, restaurants and a lively army of volunteers to deliver hot, delicious meals to seniors. They can also assist the disabled as well as homebound. Holiday programs are for those people that are alone during the Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Holidays as well. Please volunteer to help the charity our neighbors who are in need that there are people who care about their well-being.

The Holidays are a favorite time of year. HOPE, because of donors, contributions, volunteers, and community groups, will come together in the spirit of the season to help others that are less fortunate. The Adopt-a-Family Holiday Drive Program depends on special friends to help struggling neighbors who might otherwise be hungry during the holidays. Donations as well as fund raisers from the community provide families with all of the ingredients needed to prepare a delicious Easter or Thanksgiving dinner.

In addition, adopting a family in December is a sure way to make the holidays bright for children from low income families. Using this program, HOPE will provide a Holiday Wish List for each adopted family, so that together everyone can be sure to make their wishes come true.

Partial Financial Assistance is available from HOPE Outreach Center. This will generally be for those who work full time for a low wage. There may also be aid or loans those who are experiencing financial difficulties as a result of disability, medical emergency, job loss or health crisis.

These short term occurrences can leave people from Broward County feeling helpless, especially if they do not qualify for public assistance. Financial support and donations given to HOPE enables the charity to offer a hand-up with rent, utility bills and other basic necessities that help families move beyond situations of crisis.

Mental illness or a disability often produces a vicious cycle. Effective medical care in Broward County is vital for those suffering from illness to maintain steady employment, integrate into the community, and function as productive citizens.

However, as many local families know all too well, getting a job is difficult. This limits insurance, so medical care is not affordable, and they continue to live in poverty. HOPE Outreach provides comprehensive solutions that strengthen individuals with mental illnesses and their families through strong partnerships with community, private, government and non-profit agencies and organizations. They will also arrange for onsite services provided by a licensed social worker and therapist, who supports clients as they regain their ability to live independently and with dignity.

At HOPE, they believe that knowledge as well as education is power and that it is essential for an individual to be successful and independent. So the team from the non-profit will help clients gain knowledge in the areas of nutrition, financial planning and parenting.

HOPE also has partnerships with Need to Feed’s Community Café to present quarterly events that teach students how they can eat healthy without breaking their budgets. Of course the pantries and other services offered also help here. The charity will also run a support group for women.

Without access to email, computer and the Internet, it’s virtually impossible for a job seeker to have any success at finding work. To address these barriers, HOPE partners with agencies such as Employ Florida Marketplace and the non-profit Work Force One Employee Solutions.

This is a Broward County agency that provides career counseling and training to provide employment assistance in the form of office space and access to a computer that may be used to create a resume. The center can also be used by clients to send out faxes and emails, and perform online job searches. The goal is to continue to try to help clients find job opportunities and submit applications.

Many children need supplies and confidence when it comes to back to school. They often need the basics such as sharpened pencils, uniforms, new crayons, or maybe a backpack. HOPE Outreach offers a Back to School Drive to ensure that all children start with everything they need to be successful in school. Since this is part of education, it is essential for breaking the cycle of poverty. Together they can assist hundreds of children across Broward County to take giant steps in the right direction.

HOPE’s Camp Scholarship Program provides funds to help students from low-income families attend various camps operated by the Town of Davie while their parents are at work or during vacations. It can be relied upon during school breaks and vacations. It will keep the child safe, active, and it also also fun for children whose families are unable to afford child care. Scholarships are available from HOPE Outreach Center for Summer Camp, Winter Break Camp, or Spring Break as well.

Broward County seniors are also a focus. HOPE Outreach Center facilitates in-home evaluations by professional health care workers in order to identify unmet needs that can threaten their independence. Based on the evaluation and the results of this assessment process, referrals are made for services or needed equipment provided by other agencies.

Older residents may benefit from meal delivery; the installation of bathroom safety modifications; home health care; and other services that enable the elderly to age in place and remain independent for as long as possible. They also rely on volunteers to transportation to appointments with dentists, doctors, pharmacists or hairdressers.

For more details on their programs, HOPE Outreach Center is located at 4700 SW 64th Ave., Ste. A, Davie, Florida 33314. Call the charity at 954-321-0909.
