Aspermont Small Business Development Center - This is the community action agency that provides coverage to the region. They may be able to refer qualified low income families to grant programs, or possibly offer their own emergency financial assistance. Counselors will also work with the applicant to the agency to ensure the person gains self-sufficiency over the long term.

  • Some of the programs offered help low to moderate income residents with a variety of financial services including but not limited to the following. There may be financial assistance on paying water and utility bills or emergency funds for disconnect notices. Community action will offer hardship grants to pay security deposits, eyeglasses and dental care, or arrange rental eviction notices.
  • Free food, grocery boxes and personal stuff - The community action agency is also a great place to learn about other resources and programs. For example, Texas has many food banks and pantries.
  • Medical and dental care - There are community clinics and dentists that provide free care, including to people with no health insurance or money. In addition, community action agencies can also direct patients to places to get free health care, such as community clinics.

Salvation Army - The charity supports all counties, including Kent, Haskell and others. Some of the assistance programs administer include free food as well as emergency overnight shelter. There are also hot meals, emergency financial aid services (such as rent and utility bills) for residents of the surrounding area.

 

 

 

 

The Salvation Army also arranges residential substance abuse treatment, disaster services, and counseling. Provides limited emergency financial assistance, and funds can pay gasoline, transitional housing and for car or truck repairs. They also run the federal government Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing (HPRP), which is an eviction prevention program. Call 325.677.1408

Rolling Plains Management - Get help with energy bills from the state of Texas Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP). The grants help the low-income, seniors and single moms too. This is a resource that provides utility bill assistance to low income individuals and families throughout the area. Dial 325.672.3969

Christian Ministries - The center provides a food pantry, no matter the persons religion. They focus there support on Haskell County, but referrals may be given to other charities. HHS Benefits are available. People in Kent, Haskell, Jones and other counties will be able to apply for SNAP food stamps, Medicaid insurance, and TANF cash assistance. There are also job training programs, elder care and other public aid. More on Texas Benefits.

Helping Hands Ministries is located at 401 Commercial Ave, Anson, Texas 79501. There is a pantry that has non-perishable goods, laundry detergent, Christmas or Thanksgiving meals, gifts, and more. The number is 325-721-0817.
