Children from Hampden County Massachusetts can get free gifts or toys at Christmas and the entire family may be given a meal. Charities across the city of Springfield region provide holiday assistance, including at Thanksgiving, to low income families and households living in poverty. While each and every charity organization tries to offer a gift at the same time as a meal, sometimes this can't always be done. There may be toys for children from the Angel Tree program. The entire working poor household can also enroll into Adopt a Family for a box of food other other presents, such as gift certificates from the Annual Toy Drive.
