There are dozens of places to turn to for assistance during the holidays, both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Find how and where to get free toys for kids, presents for a family, food boxes, turkey dinners, meals, and other items. Get help from Salvation Army Adopt a Family or Angel Tree, Toys for Tots, and otherseveral other programs. Charities, churches, and non-profits operate across Spotsylvania as well as Stafford County and also in the city of Fredericksburg. Many forms of assistance are offered.
The agencies below focus on the residents of the town, city or county. When applying for help at Christmas or even Thanksgiving, it is important to get assistance from a local agency. If they can’t provide the toys, food, free Christmas presents, clothes, or other items needed then they may refer the applicant somewhere else. But in general, the charities only offer help one at a time – they do not duplicate services.
Whether the family is a single mom or dad, working poor, child, elderly, or someone else, homeless, they may be able to get assistance at Christmas. Apply early before items are gone. All sorts of toys, games, books, electronics and more may be passed out.

Various holiday assistance programs and other social services are run for low Spotsylvania County families. They include free Thanksgiving and/or Christmas resources from Angel Tree as well as Holiday Hope Program. The Christian Church charity offers financial aid, shelter, clothing, furniture and more. The Angel Tree program also operates during the holidays, and it gives free gifts or toys to seniors as well as children. Or get a free Thanksgiving turkey dinner. There is also a Salvation Army holiday assistance program in Spotsylvania County. It helps the poor, struggling, and less fortunate in that area too.

Dozens of charities and churches, as well as corporations participate. They give free, new toys to kids under the age of 17 (that qualify).
