Franklin, Lincoln, and Moore County assistance programs.

Many of the resources available in the region cover all three counties. This means that struggling families, or those with a crisis, can get rent help, free food, legal aid, and much more from one or more of these non-profit organizations.

Attic Outlet Ministries – The address of this charity is 302 West Hogan Street, Tullahoma, TN 37388. A program known as Community Resources is available. It may have the following.

  • A free food pantry has groceries, holiday food baskets, Ensure for the elderly, and more.
  • Clothing for work or school supplies for children.
  • Housing programs, including money for rent, utilities, or water bills. The Outlet has a long application process, but find resources for emergency rental assistance if needed.
  • The non-profit may also coordinate overnight shelter or provide security deposit help.

Almost Home THP provides personal hygiene supplies, emergency food, and serves meals to the homeless and poor. There is also transitional housing on site for up to 18 months along with rental and utility deposit assistance. Address is Franklin County Courthouse, 1 South Jefferson Street, Winchester, Tennessee 37398, dial (931) 968-2503.

Franklin County Consolidated Housing Authority runs the section 8 Low Income Housing voucher program. This is an income based program. The office is at 136 Ross Lane, Winchester, Tennessee 37398. Call the PHA at (931) 967-0344 for information.

Campora Family Resource Center focuses on case management and Family Support. They work to develop healthy families from their center at 900 South Shepherd Street in Winchester. There may be some basic needs though, include a clothing bank and food pantry, free backpack food program, and more. South Central Human Resource Agency, or SCHRA, is the local non-profit community action agency. The staff help the low income overcome their hardship and get on the path to exist poverty. A combination of grants, referrals, and case management is all used.

The case managers can refer clients to job training and placement centers in Franklin County. They also arrange for financial literacy classes, such as budgeting and workshops that help clients rebuild their credit scores. These are important to financial stability.

When it comes to financial aid, SCHRA can refer clients to government grants programs. Senior citizens, the disabled, and elderly can receive assistance for paying utility and heating bills from LIHEAP. The grants, or in some cases loans, can also pay for HVAC repairs. This is often combined with the free weatherization program.

Other aid is also available in Franklin and Lincoln County Tennessee. The staff can refer families living in poverty with children to Head Start or help them apply for food programs such as SNAP or free school lunches. Other services are also provided. Ladies of Charity offers emergency vouchers to buy food. There is also help for paying for prescription medications, baby and adult clothes, rent payments, and utility bill help. Christmas toys, vouchers to buy gasoline, and Meals and Wheels are run too. Call (423) 698-2846.

Good Samaritan only supports Lincoln County. A couple hundred dollars may be available for paying heating bills, with aid to seniors and the disabled. They are based at 208 West Davidson Street, Fayetteville, Tennessee 37334. Call the charity at (931) 433-0260.

 

 

 

Chattanooga CARES is a community clinic with a sliding fee scale. They offer mental health care, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, and basic check-ups among other services. Call 265-2273 for an appointment. Or read more free community clinics.

Partners for Healing – The non-profit and its doctors support the uninsured in Franklin County. There is a prescription assistance program, help for chronic diseases, in-house lab, X-Rays, and referrals to specialists and hospitals when needed. The clinic is a walk-in site based in Tullahoma Tennessee at 109 West Blackwell Street. Dial (931) 455-5014.

Lincoln County Health Department coordinates primary adult and pediatric care, specialty medicine, free dental care, teeth cleaning, and treatments. Some services are low cost, others are free. They are located at 1000 Washington St. W, Fayetteville, Tennessee 37334. Phone - (931) 433-3231, or find additional dental clinics in Tennessee.

Legal Aid of East Tennessee is a pro-bono firms that provides free legal assistance to the indigent and people in poverty. The elderly or disabled can apply for help too, no matter their income. The intake number is (423) 778-7807.
