Get help with energy bills in Florida from LIHEAP.

A number of grants and financial assistance is offered to individuals in Florida from the LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program). The utility bill assistance is administered at the local county and town level across the state. Your local government office as well as non-profit agencies and charities accept applications and can help walk qualified individuals through the application process. The money provided from the Florida LIHEAP program can help pay cooling and even heating bills.

There are two main components to the assistance provided. One is to help people deal with a crisis. For example, if you are faced with imminent disconnection, a medical emergency, or some other type of emergency, the LIHEAP crisis program can provide immediate relief. The second option is for regular, ongoing assistance. This is when a qualified applicant can receive ongoing funds to pay energy or utility bills.

There are income limits and other conditions that need to be met in order to qualify for the federal government created Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Below you will find a listing and phone numbers of community action agencies, non-profit organizations, and government offices in Florida, all of which can accept your application and help you apply for LIHEAP.
