Faith Tabernacle social services.

For members of the immediate community facing a crisis, Faith Tabernacle may have emergency financial aid, referrals, or other services available. The church has very limited resources, and it mostly relies on donations. However, whenever possible, some of the main assistance programs operated by the church for people in the Stamford Connecticut area are below.

Gently used clothing closet – Needy families, with a focus on children or people seeking employment in Fairfield County, can receive free items or vouchers to use for goods. The clothing closet may distribute winter coats, shoes, hats, and other various items to those who qualify. They will usually be gently used but sometimes new.

Some special holiday or back to school items may also be available from the Faith Tabernacle center. This may be small gifts, back to school notebooks, or clothing for children. Many fund raisers are used to provide items to the clothing closet. More details are below.

A local food bank operates on a weekly basis. This pantry is distributing supplemental boxes of food, groceries, and more to hundreds of people per month. The clients will be low income, seniors, children, the disabled, and working poor from the Stamford area.

One time Emergency Utility Bill and Rental Assistance – While funds are very limited and everything comes with restriction, the church may offer families or individuals facing eviction help. Faith Tabernacle may offer loans or some other form of short term rental assistance to avoid homelessness.

In addition the that, the Church may offer emergency financial aid to low income and working poor families faced with limited or no fuel during critical times. There is support and aid to deal with shut off notices. This is even more true for winter expenses, as the church wants households to have some type of heating service during the cold Stamford winters.

Additional Special Holiday Projects may be available. This includes free Christmas food, Thanksgiving meals, toys for children, and more. In addition to that, the Church provides clients with an annual Back to School Supply Rally that benefits low income and working poor children. They may receive belts, footwear, notebooks, used clothing and other types of school supplies.

Counseling and referrals are available from staff and case managers at the church. They will, among other things, evaluate and assess the needs of families and individuals. They will refer them to other local agencies or charities if needed be. Other referrals may be to a job training center in Connecticut.

This is done mostly if programs are not offered in-house. The services from the non-profit may include readiness, job training, information on addiction services, family services and social support. There is also extensive information on general human service referrals that may be offered from in Fairfield County.

Much more may be offered for the homeless, poor, and unemployed in Fairfield County. There is free emergency services such as food, information on shelter, referrals to transitional housing, and more. For example, a number of community clinics in the region also offer free medical and dental services to the low income and uninsured.

Faith Tabernacle will also try to provide high priority and confidential social services for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. This is done through participation in educational workshops and mind/body programs. All assistance programs and resources have the goal to improve the ability of individuals to reach self-sufficiency.

The address is 29 Grove Street, Stamford, Connecticut, 06901, 203-348-8755. As noted, while funds are limited, the church will try to address the need or maybe offer referrals.
