Free Christmas and holiday assistance Erie County Pennsylvania.

Parents with children can get free Christmas gifts, Thanksgiving meals and help at the holidays in Erie County Pennsylvania. Find where and how to apply for Toys for Tots, Angel Tree, as well as other charitable programs such as Adopt a Family. There is also holiday assistance available at Thanksgiving, including free meals or dinners, Christmas food boxes, winter coats, and a variety of presents for anyone in need, ranging from seniors to single moms or dads with kids.

The main agencies to apply to in Erie County for assistance are listed below. What may be offered includes Books, Stuffed Animals, Stocking Stuffers, dolls, Legos, electronics, Games and much more. Some of the free holiday assistance programs include:

  • Toys for Tots.
  • Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas meals and grocery/food boxes.
  • Angel Tree and Adopt a Family from the western Pennsylvania Salvation Army Erie operations.
  • Some Erie County PA charities also give free educational items at Christmas, such as laptops, tablets, desktop computers and similar for kids to learn more. Find a free desktop computer.

It is recommended to apply early. The demand for gift, games, books, clothes, and other Christmas help is very high. Whether it is a church in Erie County, a non-profit, or another charitable organization, there is assistance available to lower income families as well as those that are struggling.

Martin Luther King Center - Main Office
There is an annual free Christmas Toy Distribution service. The service is known as the Christmas Sponsorship Program. Clothing, toys, money, and more may be available. There may also be new shoes or boots, free winter coats, hats and blankets.

The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division - Corry Worship and Service Center
Emergency assistance is combined with seasonal help. This may be a free Thanksgiving Turkey, Adopt a Family, and Angel Tree for Christmas presents. A free Thanksgiving Day Dinner for anyone in need, whether lonely, homeless, or struggling.

Boro Women & Family Services

Material needs are given for free. Diapers, birth or Christmas toys, bottles, wipes, and more. Many clients are low income and/or single mothers.

Community Outreach Group

The charity has a free Clothing Distribution Party. Normally in December clothes, Christmas toys, winter attire, and more is given away.

Erie City Mission - Clothing Pantry

Free winter coats, boots, gloves and more for children, Erie families in poverty and the homeless. The clothes (or food) can be given to kids or families for Christmas presents.

St. Martin Center, Inc.

Most of the holiday support is around food. Free Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas food or meals. Children may be given small gifts (as donations allow).

Elevate Church

It is client choice. Boys, girls, infants and teens can “select” (shop for) the toys they want. While inventory is limited at the holidays, there may be new or gently used Christmas gifts for kids.

Inter-Church Ministries of Erie County

The assistance program is Coats for Kids, which gives free winter clothing for children. There may also be other holiday programs.

 

 

 

 

Erie County Toys for Tot
This free gift, present and clothing program is organized by the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve in Erie. Many charities and churches participate as well. There are unwrapped, new toys given to income qualified families for free. There may be matchbox cars, barbie dolls, video or board games, legos, arts and craft and more. MCRC - Multicultural Community Resource Center

The non-profit has a number of social services in Erie County, including applications to Toys for Tots. Low income and immigrant parents can also get free holiday meals for their culture, small Christmas decorations, gift cards and more. Or access educational resources and other programs.
