Free holiday assistance programs El Paso County Colorado

Charities, churches, and non-profits in El Paso County as well as the city of Colorado Springs provide assistance during the holidays. The amount of free food, toys, Christmas gifts offered will vary based on donations, but almost every charity will only offer holiday help to registered households. Find how to apply for Angel Tree, the free Christmas Tree Project, Thanksgiving dinners, as well as Toys for Tots in the Colorado Springs region below.

In general, the Thanksgiving and Christmas meal or food programs are open to anyone in the county, regardless of their income. However the free Christmas gift programs are generally for either low income families or those that are in a financial crisis. But as noted, each and every el Paso County non-profit will have their own individual application process as well as eligibility criteria.

When applying for help at Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas, be sure to bring proof of residency, age, and income. Also the toys, clothes, and even food (such as Turkeys) are given out first come and served. So apply for assistance early at one or more of the agencies below.

El Paso County toys for Tots is offered by the US Marine Cops and local charities. The groups accept toys, games, clothes, books, money and more from the public. The free toys and Christmas gifts are then passed out to qualified, registered kids under the age of 14. In December a small Christmas toy giveaway takes place, but families need to be there as it is first come and served and they don’t need to apply in advance.

 

 

 

Salvation Army Colorado Springs Corps
There are multiple free holiday programs as well as social services. Angel Tree gives free gifts or presents to children under the age of 18. There is also a free food pantry for holiday food or groceries, financial help for heating bills, shelter, winter coats and more. Various Christmas and holiday programs are offered each year. Christmas Unlimited

Various seasonal assistance programs are offered. One is Christmas toys for kids in 1st grade to 12th grade. There may be games, clothes, books, electronics, and other freer Christmas toys. They also pass out school supplies.

A few assistance programs are run. The main one is the free food pantry. There may be fresh holiday food baskets, including at Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas. Turkeys, hams, bread, desserts and other free food items.

The homeless, very low income and struggling can get free holiday meals (Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas). Kids may also be given a small present or two.

Additional charities, non-profits and social service centers for holiday help. Each one of these has some form of assistance in Colorado Springs both year round and at the major holidays (easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.). There may be free books, tablets, presents for kids or teens, food baskets or holiday meals for the elderly. Some take Toys for Tots application or run other programs.
