Or free vouchers are passed out for everything from work or school uniforms to diapers, appliances, couches, beds for a home and winter coats. The thrift stores, furniture banks and free clothing closets depend heavily on donations and that will really determine what is available. Some of the programs are seasonal too and can include free birthday presents for kids, back to school supplies, or maybe goods and clothing for newborns or babies. There are also charities that giveaway free appliances in Wayne and Oakland County, including fridges, washers, dryers or computers. Many of the charities also provide free winter hats, gloves, boots, sample products and other stuff. Or look here for free samples of products.

They support a limited region in Detroit. There is a free furniture bank for the low income or vulnerable. They also have household supplies, such as maybe pots or pans. Salvation Army
There are several centers in the region as indicated below. The availability of services will vary by center at time of year. A number of social services are offered, including clothing and emergency financial aid for certain bills and rent. The centers provide gently used clothing to families and individuals with emergency needs. Detroit area Salvation Army centers also give students free school uniforms, book-bags, shoes, and what they need for the school year.

As indicated available items depend on what has been donated and is on hand at any given time.
