Get free food, baby supplies and basic needs from Catholic Charities

Supplies are given to new moms with infants or babies or expectant mothers. Items are donated to the Children Ministry/Clothes Closet known as Marie’s. As these donations allow, Catholic Charities of Fayetteville will provide free baby “kits” to new mothers. Call 910-424-2020. It helps single moms, teenagers, and anyone that is struggling.

Cumberland County Catholic Charities will arrange for new clothing outfits for the baby. There may also be towels, diapers, bibs, cribs, car seats, and a baby blanket. Much of this is passed out by the children's clothes closet. Even if someone does not qualify, they can purchase items from the low cost thrift store.

Other items are given too. Catholic Charities will ask for new infant and toddler car seats, infant formula, and individuals or businesses will often drop them off at Marie’s Baby Closet. Then new parents, when qualified, can apply for them. The car seats will be given out at no cost as needed. Or even find free baby formula near you.

When an emergency arises, or in between paychecks, there is often a struggle to purchase groceries. To help in this capacity, the Free Food Pantry at Catholic Charities provides approximately 3-5 days of shelf-stable food, fruits, fresh produce, and frozen ground turkey or beef to families in Cumberland County North Carolina who live in the service territory.

The team at the charity also strive to offer healthier options, including low-sugar cereals, low-sodium canned vegetables, stuff for diabetics, soup, whole wheat pasta, and fruits. But more items are always needed. The Catholic Charities emergency Food Pantry is supported by food as well as monetary donations from individuals, local business, churches, as well as civic groups.

Referrals can be given to local organizations that can help pay for basic needs of housing, healthcare, utilities, rent, transportation and more. Catholic Charities may rarely be able to assist with those needs, but generally referral to financial assistance is offered.
