Services offered are free or at a reduced price, and everything is private and confidential. Housing counselors can explore with a homeowner all the options and solutions that are available to them. Columbus Urban League - This location has a housing agency on site. Meet with a HUD approved counselor for some or all the following. Rental Housing Counseling, Mortgage Delinquency Assistance, and Foreclosure Prevention. Counselors will interact, mediate and negotiate with your mortgage servicer, lenders and others (such as the assessor for property taxes) to help you avoid foreclosure. They may also be able to assist homeowners in developing an action plan to save their home. Columbus Housing Partnership - Free or low cost foreclosure prevention counseling is provided to those individuals and families in Franklin County who have fallen behind with their mortgage payments. The goal of this non-profit is to provide the information resources and tools necessary to help homeowners maintain home ownership by identifying the cause of default or delinquency, and to help them resolve it and get back on track. It can provide qualified borrowers with one time financial assistance and grants for emergency situations. Homeowners who qualify for assistance from PRC are eligible for up to $1,500 in financial assistance, which can be used towards a mortgage.
